Summer in “Warm Weather” Shocker

As summer gets into full swing, the country this week is expected to endure a record number of stories in the press about how hot it is. The British public have already been submitted to numerous days this year where the tabloids have been full of filler articles about how the hot temperature is affecting our lives. However as the more respected media such as the broadsheets get in on the act, experts are predicting that heat related news reporting will reach an all time high for the month of July on Wednesday. So severe is the threat of the summer news to the general public, Reuters today issued a “Slow news warning” for London and the majority of South East England.

Many have suggested that actions such as these are a direct result of global warming, and as one particular boffin, Dr Horatio McNab, told us here at Bandwagon Best earlier today, the surface of this problem has yet to be scratched;

“There is no secret that the summer months have always meant a lack of news for the papers, and most of us are used to ignoring such headlines as these. However it has been more and more obvious that recently these non-stories have been appearing earlier each year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the headline ”Phew, this X-mas is a scorcher – see busty Santa babe strip off on the beach p4-5” on the front of ‘The Telegraph’ in a couple of Boxing Days time. If the world doesn’t get together and form a solution at once, there may be no quality journalism left for our Grandchildren’s generation to enjoy.”

The message seems to be loud and clear, the reports of a scorching hot summer may seem innocent enough now – but if the world doesn’t get it’s act together then we may loose quality like ‘Dear Deidre’ to the ages.
